The May Gallery (2839 N. Robertson St., suite 105) won't officially open until Oct. 12 with a show featuring Derek Larson, sponsored by Antenna Gallery/Press Street. But in the meantime, it continues to work on the raw space it occupies in a Bywater warehouse, which also houses some artists' studios. The gallery hosted a photography show featuring the four women photographers behind Southerly Gold in early April. On Friday, it hosts a fundraising event to mark its website launch, and the evening features textile artist Katie Lerin, a video projection by Wesley Stokes and ambient music by Kim Hebert. Lerin has constructed a trio of massive hammocks that hang over much of the space and offer a vantage point to watch the video projection. The event begins at 7:30 p.m.
