Out now: Theresa Andersson's Street Parade

Earlier this month, I talked to Theresa Andersson for a Gambit cover story on her latest album, Street Parade, and what she's been up to since her breakthrough 2008 LP Hummingbird, Go!. (The short list: world tours, TV appearances and a newborn daughter.)

Today, Andersson's Street Parade officially drops on Basin Street Records. She gave it a fitting premiere during this year's Krewe of Muses parade, while riding a giant swan and surrounded by dozens of glittering costumed dancers and musicians. She performed album track "Hold on to Me," and it was filmed for the music video.

Andersson performs a string of dates this and next week: 9 p.m. Friday, April 27 at Cafe Istanbul; midnight Saturday, April 28 at Preservation Hall, at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Howlin' Wolf on May 4, and Tipitina's French Quarter on May 5.

Below, watch Petter Ringbom's mini-documentary about that Mardi Gras performance.
