Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board (LSPMB), along with Louisiana Cookin’ magazine and WWL radio, is hosting a Louisiana seafood fitness challenge and recipe contest for the Lenten season.

In a press release issued by LSPMB, executive director Ewell Smith says, “The challenge was conceived to help spread the word about the many health and nutritional benefits of Louisiana seafood. We want people to enjoy fresh Louisiana seafood because it really is one of the joys of a sensible diet."

Amateur chefs can submit innovative, health-conscious recipes highlighting Louisiana shrimp, alligator, oyster, crab, crawfish and/or finfish on SeafoodFitness.com for a chance at scoring cash prizes and a feature in the August 2012 issue of Louisiana Cookin’ and on LouisianaSeafood.com.

Those who sign up for the fitness challenge are encouraged to visit SeafoodFitness.com to share their success stories along with before-and-after pictures and a YouTube video for a shot at winning fresh Louisiana seafood from LSPMB and a meal prepared by former New Orleans Saints quarterback Bobby Hebert and his cohost on WWL’s “Sports Talk Radio,” Deke Bellavia.
