You can buy Anne Rice's library

Powell's City of Books, the enormous secondhand bookstore that's one of the best reasons to visit Portland, Ore., has purchased 7,000 titles from the personal library of Anne Rice, the Interview With the Vampire author who moved from the Garden District to sunny California a few years back. From the bookstore's website:

Included in the collection are editions signed or annotated by Ms. Rice, and many have her library markings on the spines. The collection showcases her love of literature and writing and reveals a true intellectual curiosity — classic philosophy, the Brontes, biblical archaeology, and Louisiana history are just a few of the subject areas represented.

With that many titles, there's something for everyone — from Euripides to Is It Hot in Here Or Is It Me?: A Personal Look At the Facts, Fallacies, and Feelings of Menopause. (That last one? $3.95, people!) Remember: Christmas is fewer than two months away ...
