If you haven't heard ... Spirit Airlines has decided it's a great idea to advertise its summer rates with images of oiled-up bikini babes and the clever slogan: "Check out the oil on our beaches."
Despite -- or because of -- all the publicity, the slogan is still on the front page of Spirit's website tonight:
Meanwhile, Spirit has issued one of those "Hey, sorry if you were somehow offended (but it's your problem)" passive-aggressive apologies:
It is unfortunate that some have misunderstood our intention with todays beach promotion. We are merely addressing the false perception that we have oil on our beaches, and we are encouraging customers to support Florida and our other beach destinations by continuing to travel to these vacation hot spots.
We encourage it too. Just not on Spirit Airlines.
