Twitter-savvy organizers behind the Roulez! campaign kicked off their proposal for a citywide bike-sharing plan. The campaign, now partnered with the Regional Planning Commission and Regional Transit Authority manager Veolia Transportation, is working to create a rental system similar to ones used in several European cities. The system allows bicyclists to pick up a rental from one of several shared-use kiosks throughout the city, with access granted by swiping a card key.
The Young Leadership Council developed Where Ya Rack?, a program to integrate bike racks throughout the city through a Racks with Plaques sponsorship program. A $300 tax-deductible sponsorship pays for a two-bike rack, though most of the recently installed racks (mostly in the Uptown area) hold up to 10.
