Self-defense Demonstration

Street Smarts Krav Maga

Training in the nontraditional martial art Krav Maga focuses on simple self-protection techniques. Instructors will demonstrate how to defend against attacks commonly used by assailants, how to defend against multiple attackers and those with weapons.

Body Combat Demonstration

East Jefferson General Hospital Wellness Center

This energetic program is inspired by martial arts and draws from an array of disciplines such as karate, boxing and tae kwon do. Participants strike, punch, kick and kata their way through calories to superior cardio fitness.

Hula Hooping Workout

NOLA Hooping

Hula hooping is a waist-trimming, abdominal-strengthening, all-over body-toning cardio workout. Fitness Hula Hoops are weighted and larger than usual, making them easier to control while you work on your mid-section.

XTEND Barre NOLA

See how the XTEND Barre workout can give you a chiseled body quickly through a regimen that mixes dance, Pilates and sculpting exercises — all performed at the ballet barre. It's a fast-paced, full-body-immersion workout that stretches, strengthens and lengthens the body.

Zumba Demonstration

Zumba Fitness

Zumba Fitness is an exhilarating, Latin music-inspired, calorie-burning dance workout that is moving millions of people into health. The Zumba Fitness program features routines with interval-training sessions where fast and slow rhythms are combined with resistance training to tone and sculpt the body while burning fat.

Spicy Steps Dance Demonstration

East Jefferson General Hospital Wellness Center

Get in shape and become a star on the dance floor at the same time. Learn the hottest Latin dance moves in Spicy Steps, a cardio workout class that uses salsa and other dances as a fun way to get fit.

1:30 p.m.

Brain-balancing Demonstration

BodyTalk NOLA

This demonstration will teach attendees a brain-balancing technique that can increase calmness, energy focus and clarity. Representatives will explain the BodyTalk System and conduct a mini demo to give attendees a feel for a one-on-one session.

2 p.m.

Boxing Demonstration

The Fitness Principle with Mackie Shilstone, East Jefferson General Hospital

Learn how boxing provides a noncontact way to get an intense, total-body workout that alleviates stress while building lean, fit arms, shoulders, hips, thighs and abs.

TaeKwonDo Demonstration

TaeKwonDo Plus

Members of this martial arts organization will demonstrate forms, sparring, board breaking and self-defense techniques. TaeKwonDo Plus has 30 years of experience and more than 10 schools in the New Orleans area.

3 p.m.

Zumba Dance Party

Zumba Fitness

Zumba, a cardio fitness dance class set to music, combines Latin dance rhythms such as salsa, merengue and cha-cha with easy-to-follow moves. Routines include interval-training sequences and resistance training to tone and sculpt the body and burn fat.
