A bourbon toast


  From its start in 2002, the "bourbon" part of Bourbon House (144 Bourbon St., 522-0111; has been more than just the address for this Dickie Brennan restaurant. The restaurant is the local hub for aficionados of America's distinctive spirit, stocking an encyclopedic selection of bourbon and even organizing its own bourbon appreciation club, the New Orleans Bourbon Society.

  To mark its 10th anniversary on Wednesday, Oct. 10, Bourbon House will host a four-course dinner to debut a 10-year-old, single-barrel bourbon Evan Williams bottled specifically for the restaurant.

  The event features bourbon cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, a four-course meal with wine pairings, and a tasting of the anniversary bourbon. In addition, drinks writer Bernie Lubbers, author of Bourbon Whiskey: Our Native Spirit, will lead a bourbon tasting and share stories about bourbon.
