2008 Redemption Zinfandel

California's iconic zinfandel exhibits many different styles, often expressing the regional characteristics of the vineyards where grapes are grown. Aged for more than a year in 30 percent new American oak, this medium-bodied bottling is true to its Dry Creek roots. It shows complexity, richness and excellent balance. In the glass, the wine exudes zinfandel's trademark aromas of blackberry, cracked pepper, oak and lingering earth notes. On the palate, expect dark berry and red fruit flavors, plum and spice with nice acidity and even tannins. Decant an hour before serving. Drink it with hearty foods like braised short ribs, leg of lamb, osso buco, barbecue, pizza and grilled sausage.
